Frequently Asked Questions

We know choosing childcare is an important decision. Below are answers to some of our most frequently asked questions. If you don’t see your question here, feel free to contact us!

Program Basics

What ages/grades do you serve?

Global Children’s Center provides before and after school care for elementary school–aged children, starting at age 5. 

Is care available on snow days or emergency closures?

Care availability during emergency closures follows the host school and county guidelines. Families will be notified of any changes via Email & Text Message. 

What are your hours for before and after school care?

We operate at select school-year locations. 

AM Care: 6:30 AM - 9:00 AM

PM Care: Dismissal - 6:30 PM

Do you offer care on half-days, early dismissals, or school closures?

Yes, extended care is available for half-days and scheduled school closures for children enrolled in a full AM & PM schedule.

Schedules outside of a Full-Time schedule are subject to drop-in fees. 

How do I enroll my child?

To enroll your child, you must: 

  1. Complete the Registration Form 

  2. Submit all Enrollment Paperwork. 

 

Your child may not attend until all the above documentation is submitted. 

What paperwork is required before my child starts?

Required Forms: 

  1. Health Inventory Form

  2. Emergency Form 

  3. Tuition Payment Form

Optional Forms: 

  1. Medication Administration Form 

  2. Moon-bounce Wavier

​Is there a registration fee?

Yes, a non-refundable registration fee is required at the time of enrollment as well as a 2-week tuition deposit. 

Can my child start mid-school year?

Yes, enrollment is offered year-round based on availability.

Schedule & Attendance

Can I choose specific days, or is it a full-week commitment?

Yes, part-time and full-time schedules are available.

What happens if I’m late for pick-up?

Late pick-ups may result in additional fees. Repeated late pick-ups may impact continued enrollment.

Can I change my child’s schedule during the school year?

Schedule changes are subject to account standing. Schedule increases cannot be made if there is an outstanding balance.

Can someone else pick up my child?

For persons not listed on your emergency form, please inform our office team.

What is your drop-off and pick-up procedure?

Any person listed on your Emergency Form.

Tuition & Payments

What is the cost of the program?

Tuition varies by schedule and location. Please contact our tuition team for current rates or visit our Tuition tab. 

Are discounts available for siblings?

Yes, 5% is deducted from the eldest siblings tuition rate.

Additional Discounts (with proof): 

  • 10% MCPS Staff Discount

  • 10% Active Duty Military 

When is tuition due?

Tuition is billed weekly and must be paid in full by the assigned due date.

Do you accept childcare subsidies or scholarships?

Yes. We accept Child Care Scholarship (CCS) and Working Parents Assistance (WPA) where applicable. Families are responsible for any balance not covered by the scholarship.

What payment methods do you accept?

We accept electronic payments through our parent portal, payments over the phone, and checks.

What is your refund or credit policy?

Refunds for the previous school year & summer camp must be requested prior to the beginning of the next school year. Any credits on your account will go towards future care. 

Health & Safety

What are your staff-to-child ratios?

 We have a ratio of 1:15, and during outdoor activities and field trips we have a ratio of 1:10.

Are staff members trained and background-checked?

Yes, all staff members are trained and background-checked prior to the start of employment. 

Behavior & Policies

What is your behavior management approach?

We use positive behavior guidance and clear expectations. Families will be notified if behavioral concerns arise.

What happens if there is a behavioral concern?

For behavioral concerns, please inform your site director and our office team as soon as possible. 

Are there written policies families can review?

All policies are outlined in the Parent Handbook, available upon enrollment.

How do you communicate with parents?

You will be notified of any changes via email and text message. 

Summer & Extended Care

Do you offer summer camp?

Yes! Global Children’s Center offers a full-day summer camp program. Enrollment and tuition are separate from the school-year program.

Is enrollment separate from the school-year program?

Yes, there is a separate registration form for summer camp. School year registration does not rollover into summer camp. 

Are rates different for summer?

Yes, please view our summer camp rates under our Camp Global tab.
